Daily Debate in the Classroom

Daily Debate in the Classroom

Doing a daily debate is a great way to start the day in your classroom! It’s also a great way to end it as well.

What is a daily debate you ask? It’s a quick way for students to get up move around and  work on respectful debate skills. Often times in writing curriculum in schools include argument or persuasive writing. This is a great way for students to begin to give claims and reasoning orally.

My students absolutely love it! They are always asking me to do a daily debate and have started coming up with their own two sides. I always keep it fun and  light with topics such as nacho cheese doritos vs cool ranch doritos.

Before students started coming up with their own ideas, I got most of mine off of Pinterest and  even coordinated them with the days of the week. Such as Music Monday and  choosing two different music genres.

Try it out next time you need a movement break for your students! It’s sure to be a hit!
