I don’t know about you all but I feel like I am totally stuck in a rut right now. I’m a little more busy because of the holidays but with about 10 months of minimizing my interaction with others and travels to just the grocery store and work, I’ve began feeling mundane and down.
I’m sure others feel like this too so I wanted to compile a few tricks and tips to help get out of this rut while still being safe.
One thing I keep finding that works over and over again is actually getting ready and getting dressed for the day. Even if you choose to wear loungewear, just taking a shower and doing your morning routine will help you feel better and may even help you be more motivated and productive during the day.
Getting some Vitamin D. Just going outside can help you feel better. Even if that means walking to get the mail or just going out to the backyard for a few minutes. Obviously winter is upon us but we have already been blessed with some nicer days so take advantage!
Putting your phone down more. Often times when we are bored we get on our phones to somehow rid us of our boredom but in honestly it just lulls our brain into never-ending scrolling. It’s already been shown that technology over stimulates our brain and can make us have trouble sleeping. The lack of sleep and mindless scrolling both do not help the blah feeling. Playing a family game night or taking up a new craft or hobby can really help.
Keep a routine but don’t become a robot. Having a routine can help us stay motivated and have small wins throughout the day when we accomplish tasks. However, be careful to not become a robot and just go through just because you have to. If you find yourself becoming the robot make changes to the schedule to switch it up for yourself.
Do a little at home exercising. As we know exercise releases endorphins helps to reduce the feeling of pain and is a “happy” chemical. Just do a little 30 minute workout each day can help you begin to feel better. Even with no equipment you can do push-ups, crunches, jumping jacks, lunges, russian twists, and a plank. (yes this is basically my workout)
My last tip is to reach out to friends and family. Sending a quick text. Setting up time for a facetime or zoom can all help you feel more connected while still being safe. I guarantee your friends will love you reaching out and in turn it will help you out too.
I hope these tips and tricks can help you feel less blah and make your days feel less mundane. As always reach out if you need anything!
